 The 61st biennial Convention of the New York State Association of Letter Carriers was held 8/2-4 2015, at the Long Island Hilton/Huntington, New York…. 227 delegates representing 19 New York Branches, 1 Branch of Puerto Rico, and 15 elected State Officers attended the event..National Officers and VIPs attending were President Fredric V. Rolando, Director of Health Benefits Brian Hellman, NBA Region 11 Dan Toth, NBA Region 15 Larry Cirelli , RFC Ross Medico, RAAs Mark Camilli (Region 11), Tom Matthews, Orlando Gonzalez (Region 15), Retired NBA Region 11 Bill Cooke, and Past NYSALC Presidents Jerry Kane and Frank Gallo…
A CDL/Colcpe Coordinator program was given by RFC Ross Medico on 8/3 in the morning, prior to our general session, and afternoon training classes were given by both NBAs for their respective regions. All classes were extremely well organized and attended. The Convention was greeted by host Branch 6000 President Walter Barton, and NBA Region 15 Larry Cirelli. We then were welcomed by Congresswoman Kathleen Rice, CD 4 NY, who thanked us for our support. After Committee Reports, four resolutions were passed, some with amended language. The Resolutions Committee (Vice President Kenny Montgomery, chairman, John Springman, Br.36 and Jay Jackson, Br.29) did an excellent job, and should be commended for their work.... An in-depth presentation by President Rolando followed, detailing NALC`s positions regarding CCAs, contractual issues, the current political climate, and ended with a question and answer session. Nominations saw the entire Executive Board and Officers re-elected, with the exception of Rich Hansen stepping in for retiring George Sarvis of Br.137.
On Tuesday, we welcomed Executive Director of the Long Island Federation of Labor ,Roger Clayman, and Gemma DeLeone/Lopresti, President of local 1102 RWDS, representing the hotel workers at the Hilton. We then honored our 2 retiring Officers, George Sarvis Br.137(Delegate-at-Large), and Bob Morro Br.41(Editor) ,with plaques for their years of service to NYSALC..We also honored Kathy Freidman of Br. 6000, with a bouquet of flowers, for her many years of NYSALC involvement and help..She will be retiring and will not be at our next convention.....President Rolando then presided over the installation of officers…
         My special thanks to all NYSALC Officers and Executive board members, for their help in making our convention a success, and especially to host Branch 6000, for their extraordinary effort and dedication. On a personal note, Id like to thank former Officers George Sarvis, and Bob Morro, for their Help and Friendship..
